Dorchester, MA ONSITE REQUIRED

$65-75/hour

Temporary 6 Months, Permanent Opportunity Potential

The Controller will report directly to the CFO and oversee day-to day- finance, accounting, and reporting activities for a nonprofit healthcare organization with an operating budget of approximately $50 million and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements. The Controller will work closely with senior leadership to support sound financial decision-making and efficient resource utilization. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to make an impact in a mission-driven healthcare organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management of a finance department required
  • 3+ years Public Accounting experience required
  • 3+ years management experience of 4+ Direct Reports experience required
  • Expertise in nonprofit healthcare finance, HRSA, Medicare, Medicaid, Uniform Guidance, UFR, 990 Audit .
  • Experience managing day-to-day finance operations of ~ $50M ensuring GAAP compliance
  • MS Office, Advanced Excel, Sage Intact, Paylocity or related ERP Required

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets.
  • Develop and implement finance policies and procedures.
  • Lead all finance operations, including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and cash management.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, HRSA, IRS, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee grant and contract accounting and reporting.
  • Maintain integrity of accounting processes and systems.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all regulatory reports and tax filings.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management and board.
  • Develop forecasts and provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • Monitor cost centers, overhead allocations, and revenue accuracy.
  • Oversee annual audits and coordinate with external auditors.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets.
  • Develop and implement finance policies and procedures.
  • Manage payroll compliance and reporting.
  • Oversee accounts payable and ensure adherence to policies.
  • Monitor and reconcile fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
  • Supervise and mentor finance staff, ensuring effective performance and professional development.
  • Foster collaboration and clear communication within the department.
